CD Review/First Impressions: Mike Doughty's "Sad Man Happy Man"
Alright, been meaning to do this for a couple days now. For those not in the know, Mike Doughty's CD Sad Man Happy Man was released on the sixth of this month. I got the copy I ordered on the 13th, and planned on listening through all the songs on it, writing what I thought of each down, then summarizing my first thoughts on the entire CD. So, if no one cares, just go ahead on 'n skip all this. ( Lel cut )Now I just need to go buy the f|_|<ing thing again via iTunes so I can get the five (four? Dun remember) bonus songs. 'Cause I'm a huge-@$$ loser like that. :Þ Current Mood: good | | Tuesday, October 13th, 2009 | | 3:41 pm |
Hai I'm still not dead yet.
See: subject. Haven't posted in awhile 'cause there was some stuff I wanted to accomplish first. Like recovering from this mild yet annoying health problem I've had for months now. (What is it? Not gonna tell ya. Everyone who needs to know what it is already does.) But I haven't, and yet I'm still making this. Eh. We'll see if I post more here or not. Probably not. But we'll see. Now, I'm off to go job hunting. ...After I join another LJ community. ...And then post something there I just finished writing. ...And take some notes down from "Surviving Disaster." Both today's show and last week's. ...And play some vidya gaems. Lawl short post. Current Mood: lethargic | | Tuesday, August 5th, 2008 | | 5:08 am |
< Insert Dead Parrot sketch from Monty Python here >
H'lo. I'm not dead yet, unfortunately. Still just a huge procrastinator 'n therefore not really posting much here. Figured I'd finally better put something up. So I am. Haven't done much else today, so why not? Only watch Youtube videos about Toejam & Earl, and a tool-assisted speedrun of Michael Jackson's Moonwalker. Also been dragged back into playing Animal Crossing: Wild World thanks to ponkie. Put a real damper on my progress in Azure Dreams (the GBC version, not the PS version). But then again, so did the Fusion FAQ I'm making for the game. Though it doesn't seem as bad as I first thought it was gonna be. Just need to test a few things to see if it'll affect my FAQ work for the game or not. So, because of that, I obviously have not played it much. As should be obvious based on my lazy procrastinator ways. But speaking of Animal Crossing, go watch the movie. Really, go do it. Thanks to ponkie for pointing out the site. Haven't played much of it these past few days, though, aside from just a few minutes to water and dig up stuff. Main reason is because of another FAQ I'm working on. A pokédex for PMD2, though it won't be as awesome as Terence Fergusson's version for PMD1. I will get around to opening it up for visitors again sometime soon, though. 'Nother thing that put a damper on wanting to play it was one of the kitchen cupboards. The nails in the ceiling that were holding it up were sliding out over the past few years. Finally they gave up and the cupboard collapsed about 6:30 AM Saturday morning. Not much was lost, amazingly enough. Out of all the light bulbs, glass items, fine china, and other stuff, the casualities were: - One can of Prego - One packet of soy sauce my mom got for free - One bottle of hairspray - One mostly empty Crisco bottle that got crushed but no holes/tears/whatever in it So, that's how I spent my Saturday. Morning was taking everything out of the cupboard, afternoon was tearing it down and taking it out to the trash cans. Found an old Legend of Zelda, so that was kinda neat. Here's some pictures of the event should anyone care: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v284/love2haterating/Cupboard/Found out my permit expired in April, so I had to go and take the test again for the third time to get another one. Worst score I got in it so far. 20/25, two wrong, three I was allowed to skip. Now hopefully I can take the driving test before this one expires, as well. Car should be good to go for it; mom had one of her friends take it out to get the oil changed and it checked out and its tags so that it can be legally used. That's about all I've got for updating things right now. Fall will hopefully be my final semester of classes, done a little summer cleaning (not nearly as much as I should; still have a lot to do) and took a summer class, but mostly sat in front of the computer watching Youtube videos and sitting around in a MUSH. To wrap this up, here's a few things that I'll (hopefully) be posting before classes start on the 25th (well, 26th, since classes start at 4 PM on the 25th and I don't think I have to go to my 3 PM class then even though it ends at 4:50). So, look forward to these. Unless I get lazy again and don't post 'em: - My trip way back in March to Minneapolis to see two Mike Doughty concerts - My class schedule for the fall semester - Super Mega Ultra Link Post of Ultimate Untimely Doom and Destruction and General Chaotic Apocalypse - Nat Geo Music Wave (i.e. a bunch of links to music videos from around the world that I was introduced to via National Geographic channel's Nat Geo Music program. Shame they're not showing it anymore right now...) Current Mood: lethargic | | Saturday, January 26th, 2008 | | 4:59 pm |
HGV: A Retrospective Harvey Gene VreugdenhilSeptember 20, 1944 - January 24, 2008 @ 9:15 AM So, yeah. Dad's dead now. Seventeen days after their 36th anniversary. Link leads to his obituary that was in the Fargo Forum today. 'N not that anyone here cares, but ignore the "He served as [...]" paragraph; a lot of that's wrong 'cause the person who my mom was telling the corrections to f|_|cked those up as well. It's mostly just Masonic Hall/Scottish Rite cr@p no one but those involved care about anyways. Thought about making this friends only, but why? I haven't made any thus far, I don't care if Mr. Anonymous Q. Handcock wants to troll about the loss (PROTIP: dad and I haven't been real close for almost 17 years), and if other family members find out about this LJ, who cares? None of them knew Harvey's real private life 'cept for my mom and I, 'n she did her best to cover up the negative aspects of them, so maybe they'll get a glimpse of it if they bother to read this entire entry. 'N they're all money-grubbing f|_|ckheads who kept borrowing money from us with no thoughts of ever paying it back, and now have even more incentive to not pay it back by instead using a sympathy card and/or a floral arrangement as "payment" for the thousands of dollars. Also has my RL name in the obituary, but it was already revealed in one of my earlier posts (not gonna say which one) 'n Oscar has it plastered on his LJ and Myspace, so it's not exactly hard to find anymore. So, in conclusion, public this shall remain. Haven't really been keeping up on my friends page. Not like I reply all that much anyways, but I'll try to get back into checking it. I'll post the "real" entry I've been saving up for awhile now later. When I get enough ambition to do so (though getting enough ambition to do ANYTHING's been a struggle; real sluggish-feeling semester). But for now, though; I'm gonna do a stream of consciousness post about my relationship with the man. Thoughtfully cut for those who don't give a $#!+. Like me. That's why it's a stream of consciousness. :Þ ( tl;dr ) Current Mood: worried | | Friday, January 4th, 2008 | | 2:53 am |
SMULPoUUDaDaGCA Second Wave
Full title's too d@mm long for the subject line... Anyways, here's the promised second wave of my previous Super Mega Ultra Link Post of Ultimate Untimely Doom and Destruction and General Chaotic Apocalypse post (which didn't go by that title the first time) split into easier to swallow LJ-cuts for those who don't want a mountain of text spilling all over the place. This one contains 186 links total ('n 14 that didn't work anymore), so enjoy! Or not. Whichever; I don't really care at this point. P.S. FYI: The first wave here only had 110, so... I guess most would consider that on par with this wave. EDIT: P.P.S. The f|_|ckheads at Fuji Television Network Inc. have ToS'ed ALL the Trivia no Izumi/Hey! Spring of Trivia links in the first wave. ( Humor (98 links) )Leaving this out 'cause it's a must see: the US government brought Hitler back to life! And now he's invisible and controlling everything! His reign of madness must be stopped! Everything this drunk man says is 100% true! Invisible Hitler wants you to LEAVE THE BRONX RIGHT NOW! Even if you don't live in the Bronx, you must LEAVE THE BRONX NOW! ... Apparently some of you do not want to leave the Bronx. As a first step, we urge you to try thinking outside the Bronx.Found the video via tmbg and interspersed the above rambling with some stuff from Mystery Science 3000 Presents Escape 2000. Also, check this out. 'S related. http://community.livejournal.com/weirdfolks/844032.html( Movies/Animation/Music Videos/Similar Stuffs (15 links) )Left this out 'cause I order you all to go listen to this. Even if you hate the group, it's still a kick@$$ song. :Þ ( News (45 links) )( Video Games (12 links) )( Miscellaneous (13 links) )There you go. That's all of them that still worked. 'N now, some more miscellaneous quotes from MST3K Presents Escape 2000: "This trampoline accident could have been avoided. Never use a trampoline with unstable TNT in your pocket." -Crow "He died as he died. Dead." -Mike "This is Dolby Stereo, reminding you to LEAVE THE BRONX!" -Mike EDIT: Holy cr@p, it all fit in one entry... This takes up over 14.5 pages in Word with all the HTML included. EDIT²: Added bolded font for the different sections to make them more noticeable. EDIT³: Finished checking all the LiveJournal links to make sure none were friends locked. So, for those keeping score at home, that was 12.5 hours of my life I wasted on this entry. EDIT^4: Accidentally used the same link for two different things. Correct link's where it needs to be now. 'N no, I'm not gonna tell you which one was the incorrect link. :Þ Current Mood: drained | | Thursday, January 3rd, 2008 | | 5:01 pm |

"DON'T LOOK AT THE MAGICIAN'S SECRET!"
Yay! A catch-up post! So... feel free to skip over this. Just gonna be clearing out the list of stuff to talk about here, so might get kinda long. First, I send late birthday wishes to those I missed (you know who you are... and if you don't know, then why don't you know your own birthday...?) with special December birthday wishes to akaneceles and Aly. 'N now, a gift for Oscar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_CAs3q7G48Go ahead. Click it. It's only 36 seconds long, so it shouldn't take too long. 'N it's perfectly safe. Otherwise Youtube would've flagged it as being different. So, I read a couple months ago that PiGPEN is working on making a second episode of Morphemon Duelists. So, can't wait for that. Episodes 17 and 18 of Naruto Abridged are out now, too. 17 was pretty good, but 18 was the best episode that MasakoX and Vegeta3986 have made since episode 7. 'N not just 'cause they had Baki die instead of Hayate, though that does kick @$$. Hayate >> Baki Also, it was nice of the ME department here to e-mail me and let me know that Dr. Zhong (my advisor at the time) had left for another college, wasn't it? Oh wait; they didn't. I had to find out myself about halfway through Advising Week. @$$es... 'N of course, y'all know what happened to the advisor that replaced her (that's right; Dr. Zhong = femme) 'cause of my previous entry. But anyway, during Advising Week, I managed to find my copy of Soul Coughing's "El Oso" CD on October 24th when I was looking for the syllabi for some of my old ECE classes to try for a class substitution for some of the ME classes I would've need to take. So, that was sweet. Now I just need to find Irresistible Bliss and Ruby Vroom... So, there's this rumor that Animal Crossing for the Wii's gonna be a massively-multiplayer online game. Could be cool I guess, as long as it isn't pay-to-play. Otherwise I'll probably stick to AC:WW ('n we all know how well I've done that...). Here's a link to a link about the article. I'd just read the first one, since IGN's site sucks and all the information in their article was directly copied to here: http://community.livejournal.com/acww/41253.htmlIn related news, I hate version 1.2 of the Mafia PC game (which I ordered for myself as an early Christmas gift on "Cyber Monday" 'cause Mr. Cancer doesn't feel like going anywhere as of late)... Most of the trainers out for the game (i.e. two of the three) don't work for that version, so it'll be much much harder on me when I get around to working on my "perfect" Freeride Extreme save for the game. 'N also you can no longer use the "go the wrong way past the cement barricade until you're close to reaching the actual track again then press Num 0 to have your car regenerate near the finish line so you can cross it and finish the lap" trick anymore, so I'm currently stuck at that d@mn race again... Gonna see if I can find a save game I can use to bypass it from MafiaScene (So glad I found out about this site)... In Diablo II: LoD-related news, had my Barbarian character finally beat Duriel at level 25. Now he's currently level 27 and about to take on the Council in Travincal. Hopefully he'll handle them better than my summoner Necromancer did... Fucking Hydras... Who thought it'd be a good idea to give them that spell...?! Anyways... In other not related news, I'm about ready to upgrade from IE to Firefox (late bloomer, I know...). IE's just been so b!+chy these past months since it doesn't properly free up the computer's memory anymore when I close a window. So the memory it uses just keeps building up to over 200 MB instead of less than 40 MB of the 2461 MB of available memory. To put that in perspective, if I just have my computer idling on the desktop with all the toolbar things running (various IMs and the Weather Channel Desktop thing), IE eventually uses up more memory than that does. P!$$es me off. 'Specially when I have to Ctrl+Alt+Delete it 'cause it's causing the computer to run too slowly. Wish I knew how to fix it. Oh well. Also bought some stuff sometime for my $#!++y-@$$ LG3280 cell phone (Wanna know how $#!++y it is? It doesn't even have a vibrate option; just three levels of ringer volume or no sound whatso-f|_|ckin'-ever) so that I wouldn't have to worry about the minutes I already had expiring. So, it went from about 121 minutes or so that were gonna expire on November 3rd to 936 minutes that are good 'til January 31st, 2010. Alright, now here would've been the spot where I had another entry under Things that P!$$ Me Off®™©³²¹ where I would've talked about people who put up Christmas lights in November. But the more I thought about it, it kinda made sense to put those up in places like here before the snow comes and makes everything so d@mmed cold and icy. So, I clarified the criteria: people who put up Christmas lights BEFORE Thanksgiving. After is acceptable. But if it's gonna snow before Thanksgiving rolls around, then putting 'em up early's tolerable if still inappropriate. #311, some people here had the Christmas lights out the day after (even a couple days before, in some cases,) Halloween...! WTF up wit dat? In those cases, you should have the right to go unplug the lights, cut 'em up, and tell them if they're in such a hurry to get them up, they should just leave them out all year so they wouldn't have to worry about it the next time Christmas rolls around. Okay, so this one time, in ECE 483: Instrumentation for Engineers, I stuck my flute up my-... Okay, so maybe not ('specially since I don't even have a flute...), but the teacher did say that if at least half the class dressed up for Halloween, then we wouldn't have to do the fourth lab. So, when Halloween arrived... only four people dressed up. I wasn't one, of course. Not that it mattered, since we didn't have to do the fourth lab anyway... Also went and got myself into another honor society. Pi Tau Sigma this time; for the top 15% of the junior ME students and top 20% of the senior ME students. So I dunno how I was chosen to be a member, but hey; I'll take it. 'Nother resume builder. In other grade-related matters, though grades haven't been formally posted up on Campus Connection, I already know a couple of my grades since they were posted on Blackboard. Just barely got an "A" in ENGR 312: Impact of Technology on Society (got a 90.3%), so sweet; that'll help cushion any blows to my GPA from the "B"'s and "C"'s I'll probably get. Also got an "A" in ME 423: Intermediate Mechanics of Materials, which is way f|_|ckin' better than the "D" I got in it last year. Cutoff for an "A" was 86%, 'n I have 88.32%. So, that's almost it for this entry. Just a quick call for help to those who read this in helping me find the most largest images possible. Got this image from here which has a width of 8,000 pixels, this image from here which has a height of 10,064 pixels, and this image from here which is 4104 by 5392 pixels. Well, fuck... RIP James Stone ? - November 27, 2007 Only got to know him a little bit during Advising Week since he became my mechanical engineering advisor after Dr. Zhong left this semester. First ME advisor I had since Dr. Mascaro that at least acted like they were interested in making sure I was satisfying the curriculum requirements (Dr. Zhong never gave a $#!+), so I will be one who misses him. Hey. Just making a quick post here to say that I probably won't be posting (or checking my friends page) much during the next three weeks, since classes are wrapping up and all the c12@p I've procrastinated on needs to start being worked on now. Maybe expect something a lot more substantial on December 14th after 10 AM, but I wouldn't hold my breath about it if I were you. Real p!$$ed off at how I squandered the long weekend not doing anything productive... Oh well. Nothing I can do about it right now. Just try to stay focused for the next two weeks (third week's Finals Week) and get this stuff done. Not that anyone cares, but here's a list of all the c12@p I have to do between now and Finals Week (that I'm currently aware of). ( See? Told ya there was a list... )Time for sleep now. Then start work on the homework due Monday. Current Mood: lethargic | | Monday, October 22nd, 2007 | | 9:27 pm |
"And last night, we played the Doctor Tran Peanut Butter Square Hula Quest for nine hours."
Whoo! Late Man, away! *Flies off into the sunset. Gets burned by the sun.* Ow. Anywho, some may or may not know that I be posting this later than I wanted to. Partly 'cause of a lack of "substance" for a post, 'n partly 'cause of Teh Week From Hells®™©³²¹, 'n partly 'cause I'm lazy 'n a procrastinator. So, a couple late birthday wishes to brightmane (10 days ago), tsunarikitsune (6 days ago), and maikaduriel (5 days ago). Oh, and no subject explanation for yous this time. Should be obvious where it comes from, and if not, it's easily searchable. :Þ So, sometime after my last entry, I had a very realistic dream where I damaged the hard drive (again...) 'n it reset itself to a point where it just had the basics installed (kinda like my calculator, 'cept I didn't damage it; the memory battery just failed at its job). Don't remember when it was, though. So let's just say sometime after my last post and at most three days afterwards. Found out it was just a dream in the morning after loading up the computer, so that was nice. So, on Wednesday (didn't record which Wednesday it was in my notes; probably the one two weeks ago), I saw these two squirrels. Nothing unusual. One was chasing the other. Nothing unusual there. 'Cept one was like, "My life's more important than sex!" and the other was like, "Getting away from you's more important than life!" 'Nuff said. In other news: Gramma: Look, Leland; there's your roof fixin'! Leland: Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Gramma: Leland does love his roof fixin's... Gramma: This year is a year for roof fixin's... So, at dad's last doctor appointment on the 8th of this month, the one doctor said he's always gonna have renal cancer, so he'll have to stay on the chemo pills for the rest of his life. The other one didn't say anything, though, so who knows. 'N now, a quick entry in Things That P!$$ Me Off®™©³²¹: Skype. More specifically, how they so helpfully decided to put "Set up Call Forwarding..." as the last thing under the "Change Status" tab instead of "Offline" like it used to be. Thanks so much for that wise contribution; I love clicking "Set up Call Forwarding..." instead of "Offline" every night... I believe I said this in my last entry, but I'm still not really looking forward to the next ME 423: Intermediate Mechanics of Materials test. Which is this Friday. 'N covering Composite Materials, Total Energy Method and Castigliano's Theorem, Unsymmetrical Bending, Shear Flow and Shear Center of Thin-Walled Members, and Torsional Shear of Thin-Walled Members. In more class-related news, this week's Advising Week. 'N my $#!++y-@$$ ME advisor hasn't posted up a list of when she's available for advising unlike every other ME teacher here. Unless she's moved to another office and no one thought to tell her advisees about it. I'll post what my classes'll be sometime after I'm registered for 'em, but I'll only be taking about 14-17 credits instead of 20 like the past three semesters. In yet even more class-related news, I'm failing MATH 429: Linear Algebra. Hooray! 59.6% or something like that on my homework grade so far 'n homework accounts for 70% of my final grade. Sure, that's still a "D" if he decides to round up, but that's still considered failing here. So, to close, here's the homework that's due Friday if any of you wanna offer some insight into 'em (Hehehehehehehehehe; yeah right...): HW#20: Prove this Lemma: Let V be a vector space with dimension n. Let S be a subspace of V. Let (y^1, ..., y^t) be a linearly independent family in V such that a1*y^1 + ... + at*y^t is not in S for a1*y^1 + ... + at*y^t not equal to the zero vector. Then the dimension of S is less than or equal to n-t. Extra Credit 2: Show by counterexample that this form of the statement of the Lemma is false: Let V be a vector space with dimension n. Let S be a subspace of V. Let (y^1, ..., y^t) be a linearly independent family in V such that y^k is not in S for k = 1, ..., t. Then the dimension of S is less than or equal to n-t. Happy birthday to bigbahamut and mighty_hogweed. And, since he asked for it, I wish Mr. F ( mighty_hogweed) luck and pray for his mind, body, and spirit. Now then, title's once again from "Yu-Gi-Oh! the Abridged Series." Changed my journal title 'n subtitle today, since Oscar keeps whining that I don't change things enough like my MSN display name 'n user icon. :Þ 'S the first verse of "Blue-Eyed Devil" by Soul Coughing. Speaking of Soul Coughing (well, Mike Doughty in actuality, but close enough), do not watch this video if you're familiar with the song "I Hear the Bells." That video totally ruined the song for me. The guitar he used at that show just does not fit that song in the slightest. Noticed that the house on the southeast corner of 11th and 16th is going up for auction on the 13th. Wonder what's up with that. First time I've seen something like that in this area. 'N yay! I split my lip again on the 30th of last month! 'S alright now, though. I love that Creepy Flower®™©³²¹ icon of mine... Though I'm not using it in this post. :Þ Needed something to counteract the Beatles reference in the subject. Destroyed my good headset today, so I won't be getting a new one for awhile now. Now I just have that free one with only one earpiece that came with the voice-to-text program thing that I still haven't installed yet. LaGrange problems suck... So I should stop typing now, go through my friends page, 'n study for my test tomorrow which'll include LaGrange on it. So I'm probably gonna get those wrong. Yays. EDIT: Forgot that I wanted to talk about my weekend, since it'll be pretty busy 'cause I swear I'm gonna f|_|cking catch up on my homework this time. Which'll include: reading pages 155-350 for ECE 425: Introduction to Semiconductor Devices some problems about Castigliano's Theorem due Monday in ME 423: Intermediate Mechanics of Materials lab reports for labs 1, 2, and 3 for ECE 461: Control Systems 'N maybe meeting up with my ECE 483: Instrumentation for Engineers partners to do the Temperature Lab at 8:30 PM central tomorrow. 10 AM was also suggested, but that's before my test 'n I'd prefer to have that time for studying. | | Wednesday, September 26th, 2007 | | 8:32 pm |

Happy belated birthday to alaniaunicorn. Would've posted this sooner, but I had a paper due for ECE 401: Design 1 and some homework for ME 423: Intermediate Mechanics of Materials due today. So... Where should I start? Guess with the title. It's a mondegreen (a mistranslated lyric of a song, usually not sung in English, into another language, usually English) of "The Tetris Song" from the (f)animutation "Mr. Pringle, Attorney At Law." I guess with my supposition that I wouldn't get much help on my homework if I asked here when I'm unsure of something ('n actually working on it early and not the day before it's due) since I don't think most of my friends would understand the question(s). Maybe I should find a community for such things... Nah. Mom picked up dad's next round of chemo pills recently, 'n this time around they only costed $15 as opposed to $901. Speaking of my dad, someone needs to kill me real soon real quickly. Before I go off and devote any more of my time to working on that SaGa Frontier combo FAQ I started working on several months ago... Game infuriates me so much sometimes, yet I keep coming back to it. Also: I'm so bad at working on one thing only (as those close to me may be able to attest to)... Started that tri-element Sorceress build on Diablo II:LoD last weekend. She's at level 11 now, Cain's free, and her main attack's Charged Bolt 'til she gets up to level 30. In other gaming news, I looked up "Robot Arena" one time on Youtube to see if anyone else actually played that shitty game. 'N instead found most of the videos were about Robot Arena 2. After watching some of those videos, I want to get Robot Arena 2 so much... It looks so awesome. Starting to regret watching that Mega Man: Star Force "movie" debut on Cartoon Network... Totally digging that show right now, so now I have to check Toonami Jetstream's website every so often to see if they put up a new episode. O $#!+!!!11!11!11Omega-XisIsASpasticMoron That's right! It's Wednesday today. That means new Zero Punctuation review. Guess it'll have to wait 'til tomorrow, since I'm supposed to be studying for an ENGR 312: Impact of Technology on Society test right now... 'N a new Naruto: the Abridged Series episode, too... Guess I'll have to watch that before it gets banninated off DailyMotion. *Starts watching it at 9:09 PM locally. Done at 9:16 PM.* Eh. Wasn't one of the best. At least the end was awesome. Naruto: Hey, Sakura! Sakura: What? Naruto: ...Boot to the head! Sakura: *Hit in the face by a flying boot.* Ugh! In other news, I love that "EFF'n" sound clip from Perfect Hair Forever too much... It totally rules, though, even if some of the PHF episodes weren't all that great. To behold the awesomeness of that sound clip, just watch this. So, Dave (a next door neighbor) 'n the company he works for started fixing the roof sometime Friday afternoon between 1:30 and 4:00 PM (was at classes). Costed around $3786 to get it fixed, which my parents thought was a good idea 'cause my Aunt Leona paid over $25,000 to get hers fixed (in Iowa, I think). So after they're done with the house roof, they're gonna fix the garage roof as well. Which might be pretty soon, since they're almost done with the house. Split my lip again on campus on the 19th. Just sneezed and RRRIP, there it went. Bugged the #311 outta me more than some of the other times for some reason. Luckily, I noticed it feeling better on the 24th. Speaking of the 24th, there was another power failure on campus then from about 1:35-2:25 PM. MATH 429: Linear Algebra was cancelled, but the power came back on in time for ECE 483: Instrumentation for Engineers to proceed as usual. 'N that's the end of my notes. So, have a couple movie links (all posted to weirdfolks: Uhhhhhhhhhh...Happy Fun Time Grenade Time!Ow... (Not for the squeamish.) P.S. Read an article involving Mr. B.I.G. today, so I've been listening to "Hypnotize" and "Mo Money Mo Problems" since then. Thought I'd list a different song, though, 'cause I thought it was a little more appropriate. Current Mood: blah | | Sunday, September 16th, 2007 | | 10:50 pm |

HOSNAP!!1!11!!1111iPhone I's late! Happy belated birthday wishes to chloelle. Yeah... Don't have much to talk about yet, so this'll mostly just be a link dump. o/~ What we do for you, so good for you. o/~
Hope everyone had a good Bellini Day today. Mine could've been better. Now I'm off to try to spend most of the night working on my take-home test for ECE 425: Introduction to Semiconductor Devices, then research and type up a one-page report on the current status of Lake Baikal, Marsh Arabs, Amazon River, or the wildlife of the Upper Midwest (chose Lake Baikal for now) as an extra credit assignment for ENGR 312: Impact of Technology on Society tomorrow, then study the various failure theories (Tresca's, von-Mises', Columb Mohr's, and Modified Mohr's) for the quiz in ME 423: Intermediate Mechanics of Materials at nine AM on Friday, and study various stuff (how to solve second-order differential equations, LaPlace transforms, state space, block diagrams, analog computers, system responses to a step input, and phasors) for the test in ECE 461: Digital Systems at 11 AM on Friday. "We may need you to play twing-twang."
Hooray for posting later than I wanted to. Or not. Whichever. So, firstly; happy very extremely belated birthday wishes to mystwings and technofunktrial, and happy on time (OMG NO WAI! 4realz?! Ya, 4realz.) birthday wishes to jaygrrl, and happy early birthday to chichiri4. Whee. Now that that's out of the way (I'll get to the explanation of the title later. You have my word as a gentleman.): ( Dad updates )In other news, I'm so totally digging LyricWiki. Only lyrics I looked for there that I couldn't find so far was the Polysics' cover of Styx's "Mr. Roboto" (lyrics are NOT the same as the original song aside from the chorus). EDIT: Two now. Couldn't find "Lake of Fire" by the Lordz of Brooklyn on there, either. Also enjoying Zero Punctuation's reviews of games. Go check 'em out here (hardly updated, but has first two reviews) and here (updated almost every Wednesday). One of his reviews is where the quote came from ('tis an in-game quote from the Heavenly Sword demo). Now, a question for y'all: Who the f|_|ck is The Steadyrock Easygroove Council? I've gotten two invites from these douches so far to add them as a friend on Myspace, and I don't even have a Myspace (to my knowledge...). Must've been spamming their crap to everyone in (an) LJ communit(y/ies), I guess. ( Diablo II:LoD Story Time. Cut for people who'll TL;DR it. )Don't remember when, but sometime either last week or the week before I discovered that my upper left wisdom tooth is partially not connected to my gums. Kinda feels like it grew in crooked, with the front part outside and practically the entire back part inside. Oh well; my dentist had been considering whether or not to pull my wisdom teeth out since they were starting to crowd my other teeth. Maybe seeing that'll give him the incentive he needs to pull 'em all out. Also, I have finally come up with my own mathematical conjecture: Skype = Chinese girls looking for English-speaking boys to teach them the language. ( Stuff relating to first week of classes. )Now, I'd like to introduce a Late Man®™©³²¹ topic here 'n post a quote from the fifth edition of Rudi Volti's textbook "Society and Technological Change." Includes a pretty good description about how I feel about fanfics (though most are written with keyboards 'n not pens, but...): "Made from a variety of artificial materials and manufactured to close tolerances, the ballpoint pen could only be produced through sophisticated industrial processes. It is completely divorced from the organic world and requires very little skill from its user. Indeed, the technological artistry embodied in the pen itself stands in sharp contrast to the poor quality of the writing that so often comes from the hand that wields it." So not gonna have fun this weekend... Here's why: ( Current plan for the weekend/upcoming week )Need to find some kind of activity that I can partake in that's entertaining yet doesn't suck up so much time (like Diablo II:LoD)... Maybe I should look through my Roleplay bookmarks sometime when my weekend's not so busy... That's all I've got for now. So, here is your Non Sequitur of the Day®™©³²¹: Hooray for Porkloinio, the evil pig man! P.S. Thanks to everyone for not replying to my previous poll. :Þ So, I decided that if I could only take one FE exam, I'd take the Mechanical Engineering one. Now to decide whether or not I should take it at all to begin with... Current Mood: blah | | Saturday, August 11th, 2007 | | 8:54 am |
"So evil wins, Grampa Borgnine?" "That's right. Even your tiny soul is doomed, Billy."
'Nother entry YAY! ...I guess. FYI, today's title comes from the fine folk at Mystery Science Theater 3000 Presents "Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders." Firstly, happy birthday wishes go out to 2_gryphon. ...'N for those of you who haven't figured it out yet, I'm gonna be trying to post on my friends' birthdays. :Þ Unless something interesting pops up after I dump out my "Talk About" bookmarks here that I have to share ASAP, but other than that, on people's birthdays. Now then, some updates on Mr. Bitchnuggets. I mean my father. ( Ici (That means 'here' in French) )I think my monitor's starting to die... Every so often the screen just suddenly becomes brighter, even though I already have it set for maximum brightness. So, this one night when I was trying to fall asleep, my thoughts drifted off to remembering shade99's ("That guy again, already...?") post about a trip he took where he played Magic: the Gathering with some friends. Then I started thinking about my past experiences with the game... ( Cut for those who don't give a |)@mn )Started playing Diablo II: Lord of Destruction again this week, after 2+ years of neglect. Single player game, though, so can only play that character online in the mine field of Open Battlenet. But at least this one won't be deleted due to lack of logging on. Beat Act I in two game sessions, which is the fastest I've ever done so. Currently in Act II after having acquired the Horadric Cube. Finally, another poll for y'all. Do you think I should take the FE exam? And if I can take only one, which version should it be; electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering? Some info: the FE exam is the first step an engineer takes to become a professional engineer. After taking and passing that and getting at least five years of work experience, you can take the PE exam. If you pass that, then you are considered a professional engineer. There's not much difference between a professional engineer and nonprofessional ones, 'cept they're, according to Wikipedia, "permitted to offer their professional services directly to the public" and can be called as a "professional witness[...]." Also, any company that has "Engineering" in their name is required to have at least one professional engineer. So it could mean more money, but more responsibility as well. Also, most engineers aren't professional ones. So what do y'all think? Current Mood: good | | Tuesday, August 7th, 2007 | | 7:33 am |
"There's a voice in my head! And it's French; the exact opposite of American!"
Yep; yet another Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged quote as the subject. :Þ First things first, happy belated birthday to shade99. Next, it sounds like most people are in favor of shorter posts, so I'll try my best in doing so. So, tally ho! Lately, I've developed this thing where something in the top part of my right eyelid just suddenly starts pulsating very fast, and it feels like the eyelid's tapping on my eye. Makes me have to squint/close the eye when it happens. Dunno what the hell's that all about... So, in one of the Icon Idea 'Splosions®™©³²¹ I had in the past few days, one of them I came up with was a line from the They Might Be Giants' song "Cage & Aquarium." But I decided against making it, lest someone thinks it's supposed to show support for 9/11 and get me permab& from LJ and life. That line? "Yawn as your plane goes down in flames." ...Yeah... In AC:WW news that only a few people who read this'll care about, I'm gonna continue to be AFDS from it for awhile longer. My DS died Saturday night/Sunday morning, so I needs ta get a new one sometime. Will probably have to be next month, since tuition needs to be paid sometime this month. Hopefully the total I checked online on Saturday is before the Half Tuition Waiver thing, 'cause $3,315.56 seemed kinda high considering that last year's total was $1,995.36. I know that the Student Council voted to raise tuition for... some kinda benefits or something, but I'm fairly sure they didn't vote for a $1,300+ increase. ( Boring RL stuffs )But now, here's another installment of everyone's favorite sorta-semi-starting-to-become-a-regular-t hing, Things that P!$$ Me Off®™©³²¹: --- That Sprint commercial. I think some of you might know the one I'm talking about. Them: [When you were a kid, Y]ou dreamed of a box that you could [store a bunch of c12@p in]. Me: Actually, no. I had no visions of possessing such a box in my youth. Them: That's what you dreamed of. Me: No it wasn't, @$$clowns! --- That TV series I saw on Spike TV (if I remembered correctly) called "Murder." It's another reality show. They bring in some average people off the street to "solve" real-life homicides by looking at clues and actual photos of the crime scene shown on TV (like the victims' faces blown off by a shotgun in the parts of the episode I saw), deciding which of the four or so arrested criminals committed the crime. The crime's already solved, why solve it again? Oh yeah; ratings. --- LiveJournal. 'N not for the reason(s) currently in progress. 'Cause some time ago, they switched the default search thing from "Site & User" to "Interest." So now I have to constantly scroll down to click on that, since that's the main thing I use the search engine for. Gonna throw in a plug for DogPile.com here. Has a pretty decent audio search option, but it tends to not be very helpful if you're not looking for a song that, at one point in time, had tons of airtime on TV and/or radio. In other news: "Have you ever gone to KFC and had them tell you that they ran out of chicken?
I have. I was a bit disturbed. :/ - thabreakinkatFinal thing: I already mentioned this to Oscar, but with all the recent exposure I had to zombie attacks from him and celes_fire/ akaneceles, I had a zombie-related dream on Saturday. One of the few dreams I've had and remembered that didn't revolve around my teeth, insects, or some bad RL-esque situation (like getting lost on campus looking for a hard to find classroom, being my most recent one). Only vividly remember the end of it; not the dream I had prior that led up to that dream. Anyways, the dream involved me and this unnamed woman doing some preparations at a huge concert arena before the Zero Hour of the attack arrived and the zombies came pouring out of the place. So, we finish up with mere seconds to spare and radio to our two cohorts to hurry up and pick us up. 'Cept, they were a little on the slow side coming out. So, the two of us had to fly around in the air fending off the zombies in a Matrix-esque scene while the woman's yelling at them to hurry up. Then I wake up. 'N that's all for now. So, I'll end on this note (mostly 'cause I know how much it annoys Oscar when I've done this in the past): Candlej- Current Mood: blah | | Wednesday, August 1st, 2007 | | 7:57 am |
Poll time.
...But first, happy birthday wishes to ponkie. Now then, a point was brought up that I post too much $#!+ to properly comment on everything (though in more polite terms than those I used). I realize this and do appreciate that smaller entries are easier to read, but I kept up the longer ones 'cause I wanted some "substance" to my posts instead of just some menial c12@p. So, I'll ask those who read this thing: shorter entries (implying more frequent posting since I won't have to spend hours typing everything up), or longer entries (less posting, more filling)? Currently have two votes for shorter entries, so what do the rest of y'all think? Just comment with a reply on what you think since I'm not getting a |)@mn Plus account nor paying some money for a Paid account so that I can post an actual poll in here instead of doing it this way. Vote now or Alzim the Eval Chickenpox Wizard will visit you during the night and give you Teh Chickenpox! Unless you've already had it before! Then he'll just lounge around all night! In other brief news, my parents are gonna be heading off to Mandan for some... Rainbow Girl c12@p 'n stuff or something on Thursday. They'll be back on Sunday. 'N now, here's your Non Sequitur of the Day®™©³²¹: FUCKING VENOMOTHS!!1!!1!11!3.1415926535897932384 6264338327950288419716939937510 *Strangles 'em all dead.* P.S. Probably my shortest post to date in my journal. EDIT: I will still make one large post sometime where I dump out all the stuff I've accumulated in my "Talk About" bookmark folder either way. So, look forward to that sometime (hopefully on or before the 21st). Current Mood: weird |
